HERRINGE design is pleased to introduce Australia's own
SCUBA and SNORKEL underwater dive-sled ... underwater dive vane - The MANTA BOARD
(e.g. Designed for underwater search activities, wreck exploration, marine biology research,
underwater trawling for new fishing grounds or simple FUN.)
The "Manta", manufactured from strong (welded) marine grade aluminium, painted with a 2 pk undercoat, topped with another 2 pk acrylic urethane (same as applied to marine jet skies), has been completely designed and manufactured in Australia.
The "Manta" is fun to "fly" when exploring the mysteries and vastness of the greater ocean floor.
The "Manta" could add to the diversity of activities on your next ocean cruise.
Operation Instructions
SET UP and CONNECTION of the MANTA BOARD to THE BOAT.
- Tie a lightweight towline (approx. 30m), to the Manta Board's stainless ring harness.
- Tie the other end of the towline to the "Diver on/off Indicator (spring)" supplied.
Note: The "Diver on/off Indicator (spring)" comes attached to a 2m short towline.
- Anchor the 2m towline (with the spring) to a suitable towing point on the boat.
- Place the Manta Board (with diver), over-board and slowly move the boat forward until the towline has unwound to it full length.
- When ready, the diver may signal to the boat operator to slowly commence sailing forward.
Note: The speed should not exceed 5 knots (approx. 10 km/hr).
- To maneuver, the diver simply twist the two hand grips in the desired direction.
- The Manta Board, with a little practice will remain under control if the diver temporarily needs to release one hand (when equalizing inner ear pressure).
- With a diver in tow, the "Diver on/off Indicator" spring will compress due to the load acting on it, thereby indicating to the boat operator that all systems 'go'.
- If the "Diver on/off Indicator" spring returns to its original uncompressed state (e.g. no load),
it will tell the boat operator that the diver has released the Manta Board to maybe explore a certain section of ocean floor more closely and thereby signal for the boat to stop.
- When finished, it is recommended the Manta Board be rinsed in fresh water.
The "Manta" is supplied sealed in a plastic bag, packed in a sturdy cardboard carton.
It comes complete with "Diver on/off Indicator" (spring) and user friendly Operations Instructions.
Price: The "Manta" Board can be purchased for $288.oo +. GST (postage/handling including insurance within Australia.. $48.oo).
